GMC Body Repair Questions

Can you repair a damaged GMC Sierra bedside without replacing the entire truck bed?

In many cases, yes. We inspect the bedside, wheel opening, bed rail, and surrounding attachment points to establish the extent of the damage. A repairable dent may not require a full bed replacement, while torn metal or damage near certain joints may require panel replacement.

What if my GMC Sierra has a CarbonPro composite bed?

Some Sierra models use a CarbonPro cargo box made from carbon-fiber composite. GM's published repair guidance does not allow repair of the damaged composite box itself, although certain attached components can be replaced separately. We inspect the affected parts, review the applicable procedures, and explain the required replacement or specialist work.

Can you fix a GMC Sierra MultiPro tailgate that no longer closes properly?

We inspect the tailgate hinges, latches, folding sections, and attachment points to identify the cause. A rear impact can affect several parts of the MultiPro assembly. We assess which components need adjustment, repair, or replacement and check the tailgate's operation after the approved work.

Can you repair a GMC Canyon MultiStow tailgate after an accident?

Yes, depending on the damage. Canyon models equipped with MultiStow have an integrated storage compartment inside the tailgate. We inspect its outer panel, storage area, latch hardware, and mounting points. Damage to the compartment or its sealing surfaces may require replacement components.

Can you realign a GMC Yukon power liftgate after a rear-end collision?

Often, yes. We inspect the liftgate, hinges, latch, and rear body opening to identify the source of the misalignment. Equipped Yukon models may also have an AutoSense power liftgate. If the collision affects that feature, we'll identify any additional component checks or specialized work required.

Does a GMC bumper with driver-assistance sensors need replacement after a collision?

On GMC vehicles equipped with ADAS, GM requires replacement of bumper fascias that need substrate repairs. Refinishing may be permitted if the finished paint thickness does not exceed 13 mils. We check the damaged area, sensor locations, and applicable repair requirements before recommending the work.

Does frame repair differ between a GMC Sierra and a GMC Acadia?

Yes. Sierra pickups use body-on-frame construction, while the Acadia uses a unibody structure. Frame damage and unibody damage require different measurements, replacement methods, and repair procedures. We assess the affected structural sections and explain which repairs our equipment and available procedures permit.

Can you match GMC White Frost Tricoat or Volcanic Red Tintcoat?

Yes. We use computerized color matching and evaluate your vehicle's existing finish before refinishing. Multistage colors such as White Frost Tricoat and Volcanic Red Tintcoat require careful color application. We may blend adjoining panels to achieve a consistent appearance.
