Going through insurance? In California you choose the shop that repairs your Lexus. See how the claim works.
- Limited lifetime warranty on paint and bodywork
A Lexus collision center visit, step by step
The order it happens in, and where you get to decide.
-
The walk-around
We look at the car with you and point out what the impact touched, including where it usually keeps going: brackets, mounts, and whatever sits behind the cover.
-
Free written estimate
Itemized, in writing, explained line by line. Photos can start it before the car gets here.
-
Your approval
Nothing is repaired until you have seen the plan and said yes. On a claim, the damage documentation goes to your adjuster first.
-
The repair
Body and structural work, then paint matched from the code on your car and blended into the panels beside it.
-
Fit and finish check
Gaps, panel alignment and finish are checked before you take the car back. The work is backed by our limited lifetime warranty on paint and bodywork.
What sets the repair plan
on a Lexus
A Lexus body shop in Los Angeles works from what the panel is made of and what sits behind the damage. Both are settled before anything comes apart.
Aluminum or steel
- Which panels are aluminum and which are steel depends on the Lexus model
- The LC uses aluminum for the hood, front fenders and door skins; the LS for the hood and trunk lid; much of the range is steel
- Aluminum work-hardens, so a dent that would be pulled on a steel panel can call for a replacement instead
We do aluminum body work. The inspection is what settles which panel gets repaired and which gets replaced, and where the impact carried past the panels, the structural work is measured and documented before the repair plan is set. Same approach as any collision repair we take in.
Behind the grille
- Lexus Safety System+ works from a forward radar in the grille, on many models behind the emblem, and a camera up at the windshield
- That puts the sensing hardware where front-end damage lands
- Manufacturer repair procedures call for recalibration once those parts are replaced or moved
We recalibrate the driver-assist sensors and cameras after the body and paint work is finished. Where the front end was involved, that step belongs in the repair plan from the start.
Fit
Gaps and panel alignment are checked before the car goes back to you. A door or a trunk lid that shuts differently than it used to is the kind of thing you notice every time you use it.
Parts
We can order genuine Lexus parts. What a claim covers is set by your policy, so we go through the options with you at the estimate rather than after.
AZ Auto Collision Center is an independent Los Angeles body shop. We are not affiliated with Lexus.
What Lexus owners ask us
What happens when I bring my Lexus in for an estimate?
We walk around the car with you, look behind the visible damage where we can get to it, and write a free itemized estimate that we explain line by line. Nothing is repaired that day unless you want it to be. If a claim is involved, we send the damage documentation to your adjuster and take the calls from there.
Will the paint match the rest of my Lexus?
It starts from the paint code, then it gets checked against your actual panels, because years of Los Angeles sun move a finish away from the code sheet it left the factory with. Where the repair meets an undamaged panel the paint is blended into it rather than stopped at the seam, and the finish is checked before you pick the car up.
Can I keep genuine Lexus parts on an insurance repair?
You can ask for them, and we can order genuine Lexus parts. What a claim covers is set by your policy rather than by the shop, so we put the parts options in front of you at the estimate and you decide before the repair plan is approved.
Is a small dent worth the deductible?
Sometimes not, and the free written estimate is how you find out. Get the number first, hold it against your deductible, then decide whether to open a claim at all. Some owners pay a small repair themselves instead; that is a call to make with your insurer. We give you the number either way.
My Lexus is not drivable. Can you get it to the shop?
Leave it parked and call us at (310) 880-7575. We can help arrange professional towing to the shop. A bent suspension arm, a dragging undertray or a fluid leak turns a short drive into a longer repair, so if you are unsure, treat it as not drivable. Whether a tow is covered comes from your policy, so it is worth asking your insurer.
